I'm filling in the blanks with Lauren today!
1. My favorite daily responsibility is, Walking into Bennett's room after he wakes up (getting your kids up is a responsibility right?). He is always so excited and happy to see me! First he likes to play peekaboo behind his blanket then after I open the blinds he loves to jump on the bed while watching the traffic outside. My favorite part of the day!
2. My least favorite daily responsibility is, Cleaning the food off of my dishes and putting them in the dishwasher. If I'm being lazy I just let them soak for a bit. At least I have a dishwasher I guess...2 years in college without was more than enough!
3. My favorite cuisine to eat when going out is this is a hard one...mexican holds a special place in my stomach but I also love thai and french fries and bread!
4. My favorite cuisine to prepare at home is umm mexican is an old standby (I make a mean chicken enchilada) but I also LOVE finding new favorite vegetarian meals. Let me know if you have any good ones!
5. Andy Warhol said that everyone is famous for 15 minutes. My claim to fame is Umm being Bennett's mom? People stop me constantly when we are out because they think he's so cute and they want to talk to him. This probably happens to everyone with a baby though. The other day in Safeway there was a real creeper of a girl who kept making it a point to walk by and wave to him. Annoying. Is that really a claim to fame? I wish I had a real answer for this!
6. If I could have 3 wishes I would wish that we would own an amazing midcentury house filled with all the appropriate furniture. A vacation home in Hawaii. and that all of our kids would grow up to love Jesus and follow Him every day of their lives!
7. My biggest pet peeve is People walking slowly in front of me (especially when they are taking up the whole sidewalk) .
Question... does anyone use Photoshop? I want to do more than Picnik and Picasa will let me do...you know, the fun stuff, not just editing pictures. I'm planning on downloading the free 30 day trial but which version would you recommend? I don't want to get frustrated and never look at it again but I do want to learn some new, cool stuff! Any tips?
Also, have you joined Pintrest yet? If you haven't, follow me here and prepare to get addicted! I'm working on getting a button up for it!
Have a good weekend!
I'm filling in the blanks with
Lauren!
1. I am currently obsessed with finding new healthy recipes that don't include meat. I guess you could call us flexitarians.
2. Today I am sore because, yesterday I did Jillian Michaels and ran 4.5 miles (which was the most intense/sweaty/hard/ifeellikequitting run I've ever done). I didn't plan to do two workouts but my awesome friend Lindsey offered to watch Bennett if I wanted to go run, which I couldn't turn down. Plus that means I don't have to workout today (grocery shopping day). Did I tell you I'm training for an 8k? Five weeks ago I absolutely hated running but it's really not so bad, plus I can tell a major difference in the way my body looks!
3. The age I am is 27 and the age I feel is 27 sounds so old to me. I guess I feel like I should be 23. Sometimes people think I'm a teenager which isn't cool. In restaraunts I get called "sweetie" and "hun" and it makes me skin crawl.
4. My favorite place is Hawaii, we went on our honeymoon and talk about going back now that it's been 5 years. It's seriously the most relaxed we've ever been. Olivia Beach is a close second because the houses are amazing, the tidepools are fun to explore and we always go with people we love. I can't wait to go twice this summer!!!
5. Something I have been procrastinating is making granola. I usually make it every two weeks but we've been so busy these last few weeks that it just never gets done. It's not even that hard to make. Everynight we say "lets make granola tonight" then once Bennett goes to bed we just want to sit and do nothing. So two weeks later all the ingredients are just sitting, but at least Im back on my two week sched. which means I need to make it this weekend.
6. The last thing I purchased was Stumptown hot chocolate and gluten free pesto shrimp pizza at Pizacatto. I wasn't sure I'd like the gluten free crust but I think I like it better...their's tastes like crispy cornbread!
7. The thing I love most about my home is that it's right in the middle of downtown Portland! We barely ever need to drive because everything is in walking distance. The farmers market (which is two blocks up) opens in a few weeks and I can't hardly wait! It's been recognized as the best FM in the US and it's right up the street!
Look at how little he was!
Fill In The Blank Friday

1. Today for breakfast I ate Joe's O's (Trader Joe's brand cheerios)with fresh white peach chunks(I've eaten this all week long which is amazing...usually I have to change it up everyday or I get bored. Chris eats oatmeal every.single.morning. BORING.
2. My go to/never fail recipe well I'm not sure if I would call this a recipe but when I don't feel like making a big dinner/mess I make creamy pesto tortelloni for cheaters because all it takes is a Knorr Creamy Pesto sauce packet (I can only find them at certain Safeways and Winco) to which you add milk and olive oil then I put it over cheese tortelloni from Costco topped with a little parmasean. It seriously tastes like something from a restaurant and there is always extra for lunches the next day! Not the healthiest thing we eat but it NEVER disappoints!
3. Something I eat that other people think is weird is When we make soft tacos at home, I always have to put ketchup on mine. Don't knock it til you try it.
4. My worst cooking disaster ever was I can't think of anything specific right now but a lot of times when I start mixing up stuff to bake something, I realize halfway through that I'm missing an ingredient. Either that or getting baking powder/baking soda mixed up.
5. If I could only eat one flavor of ice cream the rest of my life it would be Haagen Das chocolate chip mint or Ben and Jerry's Phish Food.Soo good.
6. One food I hate and avoid at all costs is Tomatoes. Sick.
7. What is your favorite meal? Breakfast, lunch, or dinner? _Breakfast. Specifically going out to breakfast. I also love eating outside no matter what meal it is, it just tastes better that way.
Fill it out and link up at Lauren's
blog!
I wanted to share this picture of Chris, Bennett and his friend Duke because Bennett's face cracks me up!
(FYI Chris' eyes aren't always that creepy looking, he was looking up at the tv when I snapped the picture!)
Happy Friday
Fill In The Blank Friday!

Totally random picture:
My friend has a pet skunk.
This is Chris holding it 4 years ago.
She used to have 3 of them.
1. The very best thing about the summer is Eating dinner outside, fresh fruit, farmer's market, sun tea, flowers, dresses and skirts, bbq's, the oregon coast .
2. My first crush ever was Derek in preschool. He used to chase me on the playground and I guess I liked it. I think he was a ladies man .
3. This may sound really silly but I used to not eat the pointy ends of my french fries. Not quite sure why, but now it hurts me to think of all the fries wasted. I stopped when I met Chris because I wanted to impress. I heart fries and would never do such a thing now.
4. I squeeze my toothpaste from The top. I can't stand there to be any toothpaste at the bottom of the tube, it probably feels left out. For a stocking stuffer a few Christmases ago, I got Chris one of the things you put on the tube to squeeze it to the top. We just leave it on so none can escape back to the bottom. We actually have our own tubes of the very same toothpaste...is that weird?
5. My absolute favorite "comfort food" is Fries or tots. Possibly dark chocolate too. I would probably eat a fry that was covered in dark chocolate. Chocolate and fries go together like bread and butter. Ever dipped your fries in a chocolate milkshake? AMAZING! .
6. A random fact about me is that I was a cheerleader in high school but was also in choir and all the musicals...I could've been a Glee character. For cheerleading tryouts you were supposed to do a tumbling pass (I've never been able to do a cartwheel) so I did a sumersault. It must have been a dang good sumersault :) .
7. The one piece of technology that truly makes my life better and I couldn't live without is Treadmills with TVs on them. The gym in our building has them, and since I've started running again it's the only way I can take my mind off the pain. I hate running .
Fill in the Blank Friday
1. One song that always takes me back to my youth is "I Wish" by Skee Lo (I randomly listened to it last week and still know all the words! i wish i was a little bit taller, i wish i was a baller...) or anything by TLC or Wilson Phillips (I was obsessed) .
2. My first concert ever was Boyz II Men (sorry Lauren!) my mom won tickets on the radio when they were touring with TLC and surprised me for my birthday...TLC didn't show cause they were 'sick' but Boys II Men rocked my face off, even if it was a little awkward being like 10 years old standing next to my mom while they sang "I'll Make Love To You" .
3. If I could create my dream music festival I'd want these bands to be there: James Taylor, Phoenix, Daphne Loves Derby, Copeland, Dashboard, Flight of the Conchords, old Mae, Sufjan Stevens, Swell Season .
4. The best make-out/"boot knocking" song ever is I once read an article of "the best make out songs" and "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel topped the list .
5. The best concert I've ever been to was Newsboys back in the day (I'm a sucker for duel, rotating drum solos). I just remember loving them so much and being so excited to see them .
6. A memorable musical moment for me was In middle school I went to see Jars of Clay. A radio station was having a sign-making contest and whoever made the best sign won backstage passes. I won so I was able to go backstage and get autographs. My sign said "WWJD? He would be here watching Jars of Clay!" I even put battery powered christmas lights on it. Huge dork? YES :) .
7. The song on my iPod that's getting the most play these days is _Chris hooked up speakers under Bennett's crib, which we connect the ipod to. We play "White Noise Ocean Sounds" all night, every night while Bennett sleeps to block out noise. Boring I know, but it works! When I listen to music it's been a lot of Phoenix or Swell Season lately .
look what I got in the mail today! My Ssekos!
Fill in the blank Friday!
(thanks Lauren!)

Bennett found his feet!
1. If I had two hours to myself today, I'd take a long shower, paint my nails, and make these .
2. If I could travel anywhere today, I would go to back to Maui ♥ (chris relaxes there!).
3. My happiest memory is falling in love with Chris and Bennett's birthday (it's a tie) .
4. Sometimes you're on top of things other times you're a big fat procrastinator.
5. Beauty is not getting plastic surgery .
6. I would be embarrassed if anyone knew how often I clean my bathtub. (everything else gets cleaned once a week, I just really hate cleaning the tub!)
7. Love at first sight is when you finally get to see your baby after nine long, hot months!
Last night for dinner I finally got to make the roasted veggie pizza mentioned here. This picture doesn't do it justice, but it was AMAZING! Thank you Martha Stewart!

I used a potato medley to make it even more colorful and yummy and just used Trader Joe's ready made pizza dough. You must make this!
