We had no plans this weekend and it was amazing...exactly what we needed.
We were able to relax, but we also got a lot of things done which is always nice.
It truly felt like summer with temps in the 80's on Saturday.
B enjoyed his kiddie pool:
(as did Chris)
He ran back and forth watering the deck with his hippo watering can:
The boys both took baths in the pool and dried off in the sunshine:
We had a few potty training successes...I think he may be starting to get it!
We had a family fro yo date:
and Bennett drew us a picture:
Sunday morning Bennett brought Chris his Father's Day present in bed and said "happy birthday daddy" as he gave it to him:
and of course we had to make them for breakfast:
(B keeps calling them "monster" pancakes...maybe he's still a little young for Star Wars)
We said goodbye to newborn clothes:
(this guy is getting chunky and I love it!)
and I made
this rhubarb cake using the last of the rhubarb from the backyard:
(I love reaping the harvest of the previous homeowner!)
(it's a recipe from the 50's so there are some interesting ingredients like mini marshmallows and a box of strawberry jello powder...it sounds weird on paper but it was really good!)
Things are starting to get a little easier around here and we are all feeling much better.
Let's just hope it stays like that.
Happy Tuesday Friends!
So I really want to be posting more than once a week and post more than just updates on what we have done over the past week/weekend.
Slowly but surely friends.
I'm lame posting this on a Friday but here it is...
(we've all been sick and these brothers have been keeping me quite busy...did I mention that having a toddler and a newborn=craziness?)
Anyways, this is what we've been doing this week:
Bennett read to Buckley:
I made our favorite carnitas tacos:
we had a mini date to the waffle window:
Buckley slept a lot:
and we were finally able to take him to church:
the boys fell asleep together on a long walk:
Buckley had his first nap in his crib:
and he took a nap while we had a backyard picnic:
I learned how to be efficient while feeding The Buck:
our indoor-but-seeing-if-she-can-be-outdoors cat got stuck in our apple tree:
(then she jumped to the roof and then flew off of it)
Happy Friday Friends!
How can it be Thursday already?
Time just needs to stop for a bit so I can catch up with, well everything.
This is pretty much a review of the past week, the weeks run into the weekends when you have a wee one and you kind of just lose track of time. I remember this happening with Bennett so I know I'll get my sense of time back eventually.
Anyways...
Somehow I had an allergic reaction in my eye which caused pink eye. I wasn't contageous but it hurt like none other and I sure looked awesome/swollen/red. My vision is still a tad bit blurry but other than that it has healed nicely.
I made
this strawberry rhubarb crumble with rhubarb from our backyard...it was so good.
I'm pretty sure I had the world's largest rhubarb leaf:
finished product:
(Chris isn't a fan of rhubarb so I've slowly been eating it up by mixing it into my oatmeal in the mornings)
(I think he's missing out)
we snuggled:
(they have the best pizza/breadsticks ever)
Buckley started smiling:
(he's the sweetest little thing)
and we had more snuggles:
yesterday Kira and I met up at Salt and Straw.
I actually didn't get ice cream for once, but I did have an amazing mocha plus B and I split a couple of their super tasty house-made pastries:
(he was more interested in watching the cars drive by)
Buckley slept the whole time:
(I forgot how nice it was to take a kid out without them being crazy/toddler-like)
B had to have a piece of candy that he saw when I was paying,
strategically placed right in front of his face.
I wasn't willing to put up a fight:
at least he shared it with Pearl:
(sorry Kira)
Yesterday we hung out in our (very overgrown) backyard and Bennett decided to have a conversation with the bees. He's never been stung so clearly, he didn't understand when I told him to be careful.
This is him yelling "hey bugs you hungry? Talk to me!":
and we also got a sneak peek into the amazing pictures that
Abi took a couple weeks back:
(amazing might be an understatement for Abi)
She captured his sweetness perfectly.
I can't wait to show you guys the rest!
It's finally naptime for all of us...
Happy Thursday/Weekend Friends!
Did you know that you can Instagram your pictures without posting them to your feed? If you turn your phone on airplane mode then Instagram your pictures as normal, your picture will be saved to the photo album on your phone and not on the IG feed!
Pretty cool huh?
I'm guessing not everyone wants to see their feed packed with the Hardesty boys, though they are stinkin cute if you ask me.
Here are my recent favorite Instagrams of them:
(I can't get enough of the cuteness)
Happy Friday Friends!
