I promise I'm not going to make a habit out of posting these things at the end of the week, but I'm also not going to beat myself up if I do. It is what it is.

Last weekend was great, but Bennett had a fever for about 4 days.
I'm not even surprised anymore when someone gets sick.
All I can do is laugh at our sicky-streak and give them lots of cuddles...movies don't hurt either.

Thursday we got a little snow:

Buck turned 8 months:
(so crazy!)

Friday was grocery shopping day:

Chris and I grabbed food at New Seasons for date night:
(I could probably eat there every night.)

After dinner we went to Washington Square to spend some giftcards from Christmas.
(How romantic of us.)

Saturday morning Bennett woke up with awesome bed head and a 103 fever:

We took it easy all day and watched a family movie after dinner:

I tore out our hydrangea:
(The first of our landscaping adventures. We are hoping to put in an awesome new gate this spring.)

Sunday these guys were being cute at breakfast:

We went to the toy store with a Chinook Book coupon, which I set in the car seat with my phone for a couple minutes while I decided what to get.
Then Buckley ate it:
(I had to pull it out his mouth. He had eaten all of the vital information out of the center of it. Luckily, they still took it.)

Sunday morning we all got our hair done by our friend Lindsey and we took a silly mustache picture:

This clearly wasnt part of last weekend, but last night I made fettuccine alfredo, except the sauce is mostly made with veggie or chicken broth and pureed cauliflower.
I didn't have very high expectations but it was so good:
(get the recipe here.)

Everyone is healthy and the sun is shining...
Happy Friday Friends!
(you might want to turn down your speakers for this one)

Friday night Chris and I saw a movie at the McMenamins Mission Theater.
I love seeing movies there because it's so cheap (can't beat $3) and you can eat delicious food while you watch a movie.
The only downside is that they don't have tots or fries like all of the other McMenamins but the food is delicious as always.
I rarely stray from my favorite, the turkey sandwich.
(I'm a sucker for turkey and cranberry together and the bread is amazing.)
Here are some pictures of the theater if you've never been...

Saturday evening we went to Bennett's best friend Avery's 3rd birthday.
We pretty much did't see B the whole time because he was off playing, but I did get to hang out with this guy:

Sunday we had a lazy day at home.
The boys made coffee and breakfast:

We played all morning, and during nap time Chris made these very organized lunches:
(he would.)

After lunch, Chris left early for church since he was playing in the band and Bennett and I tried to get a good picture of us.
This was the best:

and my favorite outtake:

We also did this:
(click the link and turn your speakers down!)

We "elf-ed" ourselves!
(I removed the video...I didn't realize that it would forever play the the
obnoxious Christmas music regardless of what post you are reading!)

Happy Friday Friends!
Bennett has had his fair share of sleep difficulties.
He's never been the best sleeper, but when he sleeps, he sleeps hard.
Before Buckly was born, there was a period of time where B had a rough time getting down to sleep so he would play or cry himself to sleep.
I was always interested to see how/where he had fallen asleep that night as I went in to turn off his light.

I took pictures (not very good ones) but they are still funny to look at:
Planking:
The wood floor doesn't seem so comfy:
Much better:
Graceful:
He apparentlly tried to booby trap me while he was crying at the door:
Did he fall asleep as he was getting out of bed?:
Where's Bennett?:
He really liked that rug:
For a couple of days he would bring toys onto the bed and play with them til he fell asleep:
Tush in the air:
Sometimes he was blocking the door so I would have to stick my phone in to see where he was at:
Passed out:
Bennett: You were such a stinker about going to sleep when you were two (for almost the entire year). You gave us more than a couple of sleepless nights because you were constantly getting out of bed (though it did help us adjust to having no sleep once Buckley got here). I have no doubt that your kids will do this to you...but no worries, because their kids will do it to them!
This will be Bennett's third Halloween, but his first one dressing up and trick or treating..
I never wanted to put money or effort into something that he would probably wear for five minutes then go right to bed.

Since this year he is actually aware of what is happening around him,
(and its probably also the last year I have a say in what he wears)
I wanted him to be something totally dorky but adorable and original at the same time.

I have a picture of his actual costume at the end of my post but just wanted to share some great and original ideas I've seen floating around.
*I don't have a source for any of these costumes, though I found them easily on Pinterest.

R2D2:
(and one of his many lady friends could be Princess Leia)
(isn't this the cutest picture you've ever seen?)
 cardboard dragon:
(I first spotted this picture in the Anthro holiday catalog the year B was born and told
Bennett that we could totally make this happen a few years down the road.)
(It seems to be more suited for a 3 year old so maybe next year!)
 oscar the grouch:
where's waldo:
 edward scissorhands:
(a little on the creepy side for a 2 year old though)
 nondescript superhero:
(love this idea. May take it and run if he ever asks to be batman/superman/spiderman)
Dwight K. Schrute:
(This was our runner up but I figured we would have to explain it to every house we went to. No thanks.)
 our winner:
a gnome!

I always start out with intentions of DIYing things, but the prospect of buying a costume and not putting anymore effort into it sounded so nice. I caved and he's going as a gnome...but a dang cute one!

Also, when I was searching for costumes on Pinterest I came across this picture that made me laugh:
This kid looks so mad at his mom for making him squeeze into this noodle bowl costume just so she could get a good picture for her etsy shop. I love his expression!

Have you seen any awesome costumes out there?
Today is my grocery shopping day, so it pretty much looks like this.
Minus the running.
I ran yesterday so I could sleep later today.

It's been so beautiful in Portland the last few days and it makes me wish I was camping.

So in the spirit of camping, I will leave you with some funny and awesome pictures
of Bennett from yurt camping last summer.

These will no doubt embarrass him in 15 years!
 :)

hehe.

Happy Weekend!

Please tell me that I'm not the only one who thinks this was a horrible mistake...

So unfortunate.
RIP awesome midcentury dresser.

Speaking of awesome...

we have a gold digger on our hands!

Amazing Edit:
You must watch this...

I usually don't care about St Patricks Day and avoid wearing green but that video just made it awesome.
Yesterday Bennett and I were walking up to get Chris from work
when we spotted this on the other side of the road...

Yes, we walked out of our way to get a picture of this beauty. The best part is that we stood there acting like they had a completely normal car while the owners walked away so I could get a picture (please enlarge to get the full effect).  The owners looked pretty cool too. Just like their car.

PS: I made this cake into cupcakes but didn't get a picture because they were that good. There is only one left and it may be calling my name (even though I just ate one). But it's okay because they are healthy cupcakes...gluten free and made with quinoa instead of flour. Yes, I'm going to have two...I need the protein.
