This week we had a few sunny days.
We took advantage by going to the park:

Donde esta Bennett?:
We met Chris for lunch at the food carts by his work:
We had been wanting to try
Nong's Khao Man Gai for forever.
Not only is it a food cart
(with multiple carts around PDX) it's been voted one of the best restaraunts in the city. That's a pretty big feat. After tasting it, we knew why...
The menu contains different variations of the same dish, the famous Khao Man Gai
(poached organic chicken and rice with sauce and broth on the side). I'm pretty sure it was the most tender chicken we've ever tasted and the rice was tasty as well, but once you put the sauce over everything it's obvious why people like it. We weren't quite sure what to do with the broth
(dip? make a soup?) but we realized that you're just supposed to drink it like an appetizer. It wasn't amazing, but that's okay because we had both eaten our meals already and were stuffed. So good!
Lunch bunch:
We ate lunch at the Lovejoy Fountain which is close to Chris' work, and of course B wanted to get his feet wet:
It started out with just his feet, but he ended up having to ride home in his underwear because his pants were soaked. Oh the life of a three year old:
The cats relaxed.
(what's new)
They seriously love eachother:
Lauren and I had a girl date on Wednesday.
We grabbed a quick dinner at New Seasons
(the workers were impressed with my hot wok-building skills)
then we headed to the mall where we played with makeup at Sephora, tried on clothes at H&M
(why is it that I only ended up buying something for Buck) and I got my eyebrows
threaded.
I had been wanting to try it for a while and it was crazy, awesome, facinating, painful, but still better than waxing. Hooray for having a shape to my eyebrows again!
My impressive wok bowl:
Friday night we met up with Craig and Lauren at Whole Foods for a quick dinner then hung out at their house for a while before bedtime:
Saturday we went over to my mom's for a bit.
B getting some fresh air outside:
And we came home for a nap. I ended up bringing Buck in to nap with me after he woke up after sleeping for like 30 minutes. I hadn't done that in months but I knew he needed the extra sleep since he's been sick, and I didn't mind the snuggles or the snores:

Last night The Carters came over for dinner.
Avery and Thor ate together:
and Buck is still scooting up a storm.
He has figured out how to push things while scooting, which is pretty impressive.
I got this video while we were at my moms:
This last week was pretty mellow for us.
Friday night we met up with our friends Craig and
Lauren at
Pok Pok Noi for a double date night dinner. It's our favorite place to go with the Hartmann's, and we all always order the same thing
(spicy fish sauce wings) I don't even like wings, eating meat off of a bone, or anything even remotely spicy BUT I could totally eat these all day long. They are that good. That was pretty much the highlight of our week because the next day we all got colds and were out of commission.
We watched lots of movies and had a lot of soup.
Chris took Monday off from work
(he never takes sick days) but luckily we've all been feeling a little better each day.
Buck and I took a quick trip to the store:
Diaper hang out time:

On Wednesday the sun was out and we were feeling up to playing outside for the afternoon.
We washed Bennett's wagon:
and we drew with chalk out front:
Thursday we met up with Lauren and Fern and went to
Bennett's favorite park which is right by their house.
Buck kind of liked it too:
On the way back to their house, Bennett got tired of walking and Lauren told him to hop on her back:
(Yes that is her hand holding him, I'm not even sure how she was able to do that with her arm)
Bennett got to visit with their 18 baby chicks:
(yes I said 18!)
I feel like I've been in an uninspired cooking rut lately,
so I have been trying to gather new recipes this week:
(the old fashioned way, which is kind of a nice change from Pinterest)
And that was our week.
Boring, I know but that's totally fine with me.
I like boring.
Happy Weekend Friends!
In my
review last week I posted that super sweet picture of Bennett and his best friend Avery at the library.
I took a couple of cute pictures of Buck too...
This is Buckley and Avery's little sister Rylee:
(These two were born on the same day in the same room. Crazy huh?!)

He attempted to scoot away from us on multiple occasions:
Friday night we had a family date night.
We grabbed a quick dinner at Chipolte then went and played/read in the kid's section at Powell's:
Saturday morning we hung out around the house.
The boys got cozy on the couch and I couldn't resist.
This is now my favorite picture:
Saturday night we hung out with my family.
This is during an amazing game of electronic Catchphrase:
Chris and I had a Sunday morning breakfast date.
We decided to try out
Stepping Stone Cafe and we weren't disappointed.
Chris got a jalapeno omelet and I got banana nut bread french toast and we split a giant bowl of fruit:
Buck wore shoes for the first time.
He also found his nose for the first time too:
Looking cute in the car seat:
(Little did he know that this would be one of the last times with his beloved binky...we took it away on Monday because it was completely disrupting his sleep and he would wake up every time it fell out. He has slept through the night since we took it away- though it's a little tougher to get him to sleep initially.)
Passed out before church:
Bennett and his friend Hadley during a playdate on Wednesday:
(they were tearing up leaves and pretending to make a "salad for the birds")
Thursday night the boys face timed with the Carter girls:
Now we are off to a goodbye party for some friends.
Happy Weekend Friends!
It feels like this week has been long and incredibly short at the same time.
Either way, it's almost the weekend!
and this is what we did last weekend...
Buckley practiced his crawling skills:
(really just scooting across the rug on his belly. He knows the hiney-scoot is where it's at.)

I started purposefully putting him to bed on his belly.
I think he likes it and he's darn cute:
Friday night Chris and I wandered around Anthropologie after getting coffee:
Then got dinner at
Broder:
(we always get aebleskivers for an appetizer)
Chris got the special which was salmon, creamed spinach and polenta and I got the open-faced sandwich trio (shrimp salad, roasted beats/goat cheese, and lox) with au gratin potatoes.
Everything was amazing as always:
Saturday morning we teamed up and made panackes with carmelized bananas and coffee:
and Bennett watched a show upside down:
(such a boy)
Sunday Buck and I went to Target alone:
(Shopping is so much fun with out a 3 year old...and Buck agrees!)
and Sunday evening we met up with friends at TCBY.
Bennett, the ladies man:
Happy Friday Friends!
We had a great and relaxing weekend!
Friday while I was in the shower Bennett came to tell me that Buck was stuck under the chair.
I wasn't sure he was telling the truth since Buck hasn't started crawling yet, but I quickly finished up and ran out into the living room. Sure enough he had somehow managed to scoot under the chair all the way from the cube toy. I'm not ready for two mobile boys yet!
(Bennett was showing Buck some brotherly love by sitting on him)
After we all got ready, we went to Costco for groceries.
This was Buck's first time sitting in the cart:
(he loved it for half of the time then became whiney and tired for the rest of the ride)
Saturday night the boys stayed with Chris' parents and we went out for date night with Craig and
Lauren. We went to
Dick's Kitchen which was pretty good. I don't think I'd get the large kale salad again...I loved the topping combo
(blue cheese/cranberries/hazlenuts) but it was a TON of kale!
I also got a Coconut Bliss chocolate malt which was SO good.
Chris got a burger and some yam not-fries(weird name... they are baked and not fried).
I tasted both and they were really good.
My mound of kale:
After dinner we hung out and chatted at our house without having to worry about waking up the boys, so nice:
Sunday morning Chris and I slept in (hello 9:45!), ran a ton of errands then
we had brunch at
Por Que No. Their brunch is so good!
Before we picked up the boys, we stopped at IKEA to price out cabinets for our bathroom remodel!
We are pretty giddy to even be considering a big change like this, which is much needed.
Such a nice weekend!
Happy Wednesday Friends!
It was so cold over the weekend.
It got down to 19 degrees one morning, and Chris went for a run in Forest Park Saturday morning while it was 27 degrees. He's crazy and I let him know that fact.
Even though there was frost on the ground Friday, we had to get out of the house for a bit so I took the boys up to one of the parks in our neighborhood.
We didn't stay long, but they got a chance to ride in the airplane.
Buck's first ride:
and of course the swings:
(Bennett just wanted me to keep pushing and Buck thought swinging was pretty much the best thing ever.)
Either Chris wore the same thing all weekend, or we didn't do anything picture-worthy on Saturday.
I can't remember, but I think this was Sunday...Buck started rolling up onto his feet to reach things.
He really, really wanted that monkey:
Horrible picture but I love how intense his face looks:
Sunday morning we went out on a spontaneous family date.
We went down to The Ace for our bi-annual photo booth trip.
(Scroll down if you must see our pictures righthissecond.)
We still had time left on our parking so we decided to walk up to
Blue Star Donuts:
(supposedly donuts are the new macarons/cakepops/cupcakes)
Years ago Chris and I swore off donuts
(not like we had them very often) and haven't had any since...until Sunday! I had heard about Blue Star and their
crazy donuts (and how they are cooked in rice oil, are made from scratch and use mostly local, organic ingredients) and thought that maybe we should check it out.
So we did:
Trying to decide what kind we want:
Bennett waiting patiently:
We got our donuts to go so we could eat them at home.
They were SO good:
(we got the almond with chocolate ganache and the horchata glazed donuts)
Sunday after nap the boys played at Chris' parents house while we had a belated date night.
We saw Le Miserables and it was really good!
A pretty fun weekend, and I especialy love that Buck is getting to be more interactive and can actually experience these things with us instead of watching from the stroller/car seat. Oh and I must say that we have a fully potty trained little man! Bennett has been wearing pullups only at night for a couple of months and has been keeping them dry for the last month so we decided to take it away over the weekend and he is rocking it!
Happy Thursday Friends!
