This last weekend we had amazing weather in Portland but we spent a lot of our time inside getting ready for little brother!

Thursday I spent some time nesting.
I organized this cupboard which was previously filled with a disorganized assortment of laundry and cleaning supplies that kind of just got thrown in there when we moved in almost a year ago.
(wow has it really been that long?!)
I couldn't handle it any longer and now I actually like looking in there.
I have a craft/cookbook shelf on top and a laundry/cleaning shelf on the bottom.
So nice!
I figured out outfits to take to the hospital for the little man:
(call me boring but I like stripes and solids)
and I made breakfast pizza for dinner:
(TJ's whole wheat crust topped with ricotta, breakfast sausage,
yellow potatoes, shaved parm, eggs and green onions)
Friday night Chris and I went to one of our favorite Thai restaraunts:
and we finished off our date night with some fro yo:
Saturday Lauren and I had planned on having a "grown up lady time" breakfast to start off a fun day of shopping and pedicures...only when we got to the Doug Fir all of my sweet friends were there!
Lauren and Abi had planned a surprise baby shower for me!
I had originally told everyone that I would feel weird having a second baby shower, but this was the perfect low-key-non-baby-baby shower. It felt more like a last hurrah over yummy food with all of my friends before little brother shows up.
(friends who live in pdx at least...I missed you out of town/state/country-ers!)

simple and sweet decor:
(I love me some succulents)
(ps: can you guess what his name is?!)
friends:
and more friends:
after my shower Lauren and I had a perfectly girly/indulgent day, leaving no craving unfulfilled.
This included boba tea:
clucks and fries and a chocolate malt at red robin:
(both of which we split...how health concious of us. everything in moderation people.)
(also, I'm pretty sure I haven't eaten at RR since college)
I also got a pedicure...my third one ever.
Can I even be considered a girl?
I was desperate since I can't see/reach my feet.
Our day also included some shopping at H&M for a few post-maternity/nursing friendly things.
All in all it was an amazingly fun day and I felt so blessed by my sweet friends and also by my amazing husband who watched Bennett the entire day!

Sunday B was being super needy
(he totally knows his life is about to change big time)
so we spent the day having fun with him and giving him all the attention he could soak up.
The weather was amazing so we took a wagon ride to the park:
and we played in the back yard and I made some frozen yogurt drops
after church and putting B to bed, I finally got a chance to work on the
 non-cheesy baby book I'm making:
and a belly pic...could this be the last one?!

Happy Tuesday Friends!
This weekend was Chris' birthday weekend and it felt like it went on for forever which is always nice!

Thursday we had a playdate with Lauren and Fern, and Echo, Poppy and Alomae.
Bennett was totally outnumbered, and he may have even been convinced to put on a tutu.
Friday night, Chris chose to get Broder for his birthday/date night dinner.
No complaints here.
We can never pass up aebilskivers as an appetizer:
Chris got the burger with the amazing pea salad (I don't even like peas but I could eat this all day long).
I got their famous Pyatt y Panna (smoked trout hash) with baked eggs and walnut toast.
I usually order the dark hot chocolate but decided to try the raspberry apple cider and it didn't disappoint!
Sooo good:
Saturday morning, someone woke us up early wanting to play blocks.
We appeased him by playing blocks in bed for a bit then we decided to finish putting together the nursery and rearranging B's room.

The changing table/dresser got moved into the nursery and his bed and bookshelf got flipped around.
He has so much more floor space to play on now!

and the nursery is pretty much done:
(I'll do a full post later)

Saturday afternoon B tried on some of his new summer clothes and he didn't want to take them off.

He especially loved the little euro swim shorts:
(don't they look lovely with the socks?)
During nap, I whipped this up:
(a triple layer chocolate cake: top and bottom were dark chocolate cake and the middle layer was brownie with chocolate frosting in between and on the outside. I stuck pb chips on the outside because well, Chris loves chocolate and pb)
Saturday night we had friends over for cake and coffee.
Nine of us could only finish half of the cake:
(the other half was demolished by Chris' co-workers before 10am yesterday)
Sunday morning Chris woke up to a scavenger hunt:
Then we went to Lovejoy Bakers to get our favorite breakfast:
then to Barista for some delicious caffeinated fuel:
we walked over to REI to get our new stroller, but B really wanted to play in the 'airplanes':
Sunday night we met Chris' parents for his actual birthday dinner at Laurelhurst Market.
I forgot to take pictures of our amazing food, but I did get a picture of B throughouly enjoying his mac n cheese:
afterwards, we grabbed birthday ice cream cones at Salt and Straw:
(Chris got his usual double scoop with double fold vanilla and stumptown espresso with cocoa nibs and I got a single scoop of one of the new flavors, honey lemon with ricotta walnut cookies. It was SO good!)
Yesterday it was an amazingly gorgeous day, so after Chris got home we ate a quick dinner and took our new toy out for a test ride to the park.
(yes, we realize how dorky we are)
Only missing one little wiggly thing:
Oh and this weekend we managed to squeeze in a belly picture.
Who knows how many more there will be?!
(pray that this little guy turns head down, a c-section does not sound like fun with a toddler running around)
and here's an outtake, but it accurately shows how I feel:
Pregnancy #2 is way more painful/annoying/difficult than #1 ever was and
Chris gets to hear about it all the time (sorry Chris)!
I feel guilty for complaining because there are people who have really, really difficult pregnancies, but compared to my first one (which was a complete breeze) a majority of this one has been lame.
To put it simply, sciatica sucks!
Come on baby...flip and come out!
Thursday, B and I went to the library. When we got to the children's section I stopped to look something up on the computer and B ran ahead saying he was going to get books. When I was done, I walked up to the table he had found a spot at and realized that every book he grabbed was a Thomas the Train book, including one magazine! This boy knows what he likes and is obsessed.
(though I'm not sure how he even got introduced to Thomas in the first place!)

He sat and read through each one.
I love my nerdy little book worm!
By the way, have you guys tried these yet?:
(I normally don't buy cereal like this but since we are big peanut butter fans I had to grab it, and was pleasantly surprised with how tasty it is! It doesn't have as much sugar as I thought it would, though it still has more than other cereals I buy. It's a treat and we are milking it for all it's worth!)
Speaking of sugar, I don't mind ending a long day with a little dessert.
I found a recipe for chocolate lava cakes for two.
It was amazing and was the perfect amount with a little vanilla ice cream on the side.
(I added some dark chocolate chips into the center of the cakes before I put them in the oven to make sure they got nice and gooey. Worked like a charm!)
Friday morning B jumped on the bed like usual:
He did a lot of coloring:
 played with trains and blocks:
and I made my first key lime pie:
I used this crust recipe since I wanted a super thick crust, and I used this filling recipe.
It turned out way better than I thought it would, though I forgot to spray the pie dish first, so we lost a lot of valuable crust!
Friday marked 5 years since my step-dad* passed away and the pie was in honor of him,
 since it was his favorite.
(*I really don't like that term, he was more of a dad to me and raised me with my mom since I was 4)
We had my mom and brother and sister over for the evening to just hang out, eat good food and be together. It was a good night.
Saturday was the last of the nursery construction days!
While B and I were out of the hosuse, I bought little brother's first diapers...so teeny:
B was so pooped Saturday night that he fell asleep mid book:
(we give him 2 big stacks of books at night and it really helps to keep him in bed and it just so happens to make him sleepy as well. Every once in a while we will hear him run to his bookshelf to get more books but he runs right back to bed and even covers himself back up.)
Oh and here is the nursery progress...
We now have a door and molding, both of which need to be painted.
We'll tackle that this week. We moved some of the furniture in and I'm loving how it's turning out!
I'm seriously so thankful for Chris' bro and dad and their construction abilities!
They even put custom shelving in the boy's closets:
The shelves give us SO much more storage than we had before!
and they even finished off the edges!:
Sunday morning we took a belly picture:
(I'm almost 34 weeks but I'm not taking them weekly anymore)
I'm getting large and so is the baby apparently.
I'm running out of clothes and interesting outfits, but luckily my plan has been working!
and Chris made German pancakes for breakfast:
and B discovered a love for James Taylor:
(I don't even know how many times he put the One Man Band live dvd in this weekend,
though I can't say I mind! This kid is going to be a musician for sure.)
and we have been enjoying this book:
(my sister got it for B...instead of saying goodnight to the cow jumping over the moon,
they say goodnight to ipods, mp3s and HDTV. Pretty funny/true/sad.)
And that was our weekend.

Happy Monday Friends!
