an urban christmas.

We got a break from the gloomy weather so I finally was able to take some (not-so-dark) pictures of our Christmas decorations!

Our last apartment had a nice wood-burning fireplace.
This year we had to improvise...

Since our apartment is pretty small, we wanted to keep the decor very simple. I love the look of the traditional red/white/green colors which also helps the decorations to stay pretty modern looking.

I love these paper snowflakes I made last year.
(tutorial here along with lots of other winter paper craft ideas!)

With visions in my head of Anthro's 2008 winter window displays, Chris and I made a bunch of paper chains one night while watching The Biggest Loser. Who knew scotch tape would stick to cement so well?!

Christmas tree hors d'oeuvres plates and the owl getting festive with the santa hat.

I added white lights to the birdcage. Instant lamp!

Chris and I spotted perfect tiny trees at Whole Foods as we walked back home from date night Friday night. Chris got to carry our cute little tree all the way home. It felt so right buying our tree downtown and carrying it home through the light-filled streets!
All decorated next to the 'fireplace.' I bet you can't do that at your house.

I love seeing other people's decorations so leave a link if you've done a post!

I am so jealous! I wanted to make paper chains so badly but I thought they'd look funny in an unfinished house :(
    And I LOVE your "fireplace"!!!!

I love your little tree topper. I have been looking for one like that for my big tree, but I can only find small ones. And the chalk board fireplace was a great idea!
